An assessment contact was conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (Commission) on 11 April 2019 at Japara Wyong to monitor the service’s progress in meeting the Accreditation Standards. The Commission found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Following a site audit conducted on 8 January 2019 to 10 January 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a decision on 14 March 2019 to re-accredit this service for a period of one year. The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 1 May 2020.

The approved provider of the service meets 42 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards.

Serious risk decision

Following a site audit conducted on 8 January 2019 to 10 January 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a decision that Japara Aged Care Services Pty Ltd failed to meet two expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Wyong Aged Care Facility.

On 5 March 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet one of these expected outcomes has placed the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

On 17 January 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that Doonside Aged Care Centre Pty Ltd failed to meet one of more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Wyong Aged Care Facility and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk.

The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

The Quality Agency will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

Following a review audit conducted on 4 January 2018 to 12 January 2018, a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision on 3 April 2018 to revoke accreditation of this service. The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 1 May 2018.

The approved provider of the service, Doonside Aged Care Centre Pty Ltd meets 23 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards.
