This information outlines the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission’s (Commission) cost recovery arrangements for approved providers of residential services.
What is ‘cost recovery’ of accreditation services?
The Australian Government applies cost recovery for accreditation of residential services. This involves providers paying the Commission a fee for accreditation and reaccreditation of residential services.
The move to cost recovery follows measures announced in the 2015/16 Budget that now apply to the Commission. Under the Australian Government’s cost recovery arrangements, Government entities charge individuals or organisations some or all of the costs of a specific government activity which may include goods, services, regulation, or a combination of these.
Current cost recovery implementation statement
The Commission has published a Cost Recovery Implementation Statement (CRIS) for accreditation services for 2024-25.
The CRIS outlines the arrangements by which approved providers will pay fees and charges for the cost of accreditation of those services, including details of any fee waivers.
