Information and resources to help you to provide good, culturally safe aged care for First Nations older people. Information and resources on these pages were developed with First Nations stakeholders and communities.
Changes to aged care
There are changes happening soon to aged care rules and standards that affect aged care providers and workers. The changes are happening because a Royal Commission looked at the quality of aged care in Australia. It found that aged care for First Nations older people needs to be better.
A new Aged Care Act will be introduced from 1 July 2025, along with strengthened Quality Standards to help make sure older people are getting quality and safe aged care.
We have developed resources for First Nations providers, workers and older people so that everyone is prepared for the changes. This includes videos, storyboards, information sheets, and a conversation guide. We’ll keep adding new resources to this page when they’re available.
