The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 10 October 2022.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until 10 April 2021.

Compliance monitoring update

An assessment contact was conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (Commission) on 25 February 2020 at Central & Upper Burnett District Home for the Aged Hostel, GAYNDAH to monitor the service’s progress in meeting the Accreditation Standards. The Commission found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Following a site audit the Commission made a decision on 11 September 2019 that this service met five of the eight Aged Care Quality Standards. The service is re-accredited for one year until 10 October 2020.

Serious risk decision

Following a site audit conducted on 23 to 25 July 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a finding that Central & Upper Burnett District Home for the Aged Failed to meet three Aged Care Quality

Standards (Quality Standards) in relation to Central & Upper Burnett District Home for the Aged Hostel.

On 26 September 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet three Quality Standards has placed the safety, health or well-being of aged care consumers of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

Compliance monitoring update

An assessment contact was conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (Commission) on 16 January 2019 at Central & Upper Burnett District Home for the Aged Hostel to monitor the service’s progress in meeting the Accreditation Standards. The Commission found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 37 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 10 October 2019.

Serious risk decision

On 8 August 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that failure by The Central & Upper Burnett District Home for the Aged to meet three expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Central & Upper Burnett District Home for the Aged Hostel has placed the safety, health or wellbeing of care recipients of the service at serious risk.

An assessment contact was conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission on 16 January 2019 at Central & Upper Burnett District Home for the Aged Hostel to monitor the service’s progress. The Commission found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 10 October 2018.
