The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 20 April 2025.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until 24 June 2022.

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Accreditation decision

Following a site audit conducted on 17 March 2020 to 19 March 2020, the Commission made a decision on 08 May 2020 to re-accredit this service for a further period.

The decision on the service’s accreditation period was affirmed following reconsideration on 17 June 2020.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 24 December 2021.

Following a review audit the Commission made a decision on 24 November 2019 that this service met one of the eight Aged Care Quality Standards. The Commission decided to vary the service's period of accreditation. The service is now accredited until 24 June 2020.

Serious risk decision

Following an assessment contact conducted on 27 – 29 August 2019 and a review audit conducted on 15 to 22 October 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a finding that Columbia Nursing Home Pty Ltd failed to meet three Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards) in relation to Columbia Aged Care Services - Oberon.

On 15 November 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet three Quality Standards has placed the safety, health or well-being of aged care consumers of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

 

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for two years until 27 February 2021.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 33 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. We decided to vary this home’s accreditation period. This home is now accredited until 27 February 2019

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 04 May 2019.

This is a new home and is accredited for one year until 04 May 2016. We made the decision on 04 May 2015.
