Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until 15 August 2023.

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Accreditation decision

Following a site audit conducted on 8 to 10 January 2020, the Commission made a decision on 12 February 2020 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 15 February 2022.

The Performance Report is attached.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 15 February 2020.

Serious risk decision

On 8 May 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that failure by Aurrum Pty Ltd to meet one expected outcome in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Aurrum Kincumber and that this failure has placed the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk.

An assessment contact was conducted by the Quality Agency on 9 October 2018 at Aurrum Kincumber to monitor the service’s progress. The Quality Agency found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 42 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 30 May 2019.

Serious risk decision

On 20 November 2017 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that Aurrum Pty Limited failed to meet one of more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Aurrum Kincumber and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk.

The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

The Quality Agency will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

Following the audit, an authorised delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision on 30 November 2017 to re-accredit this service with an accreditation expiry date of 30 May 2018.

The approved provider of the service meets 33 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards.   The audit report is attached.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 03 August 2019.
