Following a site audit conducted on 04 April 2023 to 06 April 2023, the Commission made a decision on 29 May 2023 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 29 May 2026.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service.

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service

16 July 2023.

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Following a site audit conducted on 12 January 2021 to 15 January 2021, the Commission made a decision on 10 February 2021 not to re-accredit this service. 

The decision not to re-accredit the service was set aside following reconsideration on 6 April 2021 and substituted with a new decision to re-accredit this service for a period of three months.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 16 July 2021.

Following a site audit conducted on 20 October 2020 to 23 October 2020, the Commission made a decision on 8 December 2020 not to re-accredit this service.

The decision on the service’s accreditation period was varied to re-accredit following reconsideration on own initiative on 14 December 2020.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 16 April 2021.

Accreditation decision

Following a site audit conducted on 20 January 2020 to 24 January 2020, the Commission made a decision on 28 February 2020 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 16 October 2020.

The Performance Report is attached.

Following a review audit the Commission made a decision on 16 September 2019 that this service met zero of the eight Aged Care Quality Standards. The Commission decided to vary the service's period of accreditation. The service is now accredited until 16 March 2020.

Serious risk decision

Following a Review audit conducted on 7-10 August 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a finding that Lithgow Aged Care Limited failed to meet all Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards) in relation to Lithgow Aged Care Limited.

On 23 October 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet five Quality Standards has placed the safety, health or well-being of eight aged care consumers of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

 

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 23 December 2020.
