Accreditation decision

Following a site audit conducted on 26 September 2022 to 28 September 2022, the Commission made a decision on 28 October 2022 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 28 October 2025.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service 12 March 2023.

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

The attached Performance Report details the assessment of performance against the Aged Care Quality Standards following the assessment contact.

Following a site audit the Commission made a decision on 24 December 2019 that this service met all of the Aged Care Quality Standards. The service is re-accredited for two years until 12 March 2022.

Compliance update

Following an assessment contact conducted on 15 October 2019, the Commission made a decision that improvements have been made to the service to ensure that the Aged Care Quality Standards are complied with.

Non-compliance update

Following an assessment contact conducted on 02 August 2019, the Commission made a decision that the approved provider of the service is non-compliant with 1 requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 12 March 2020.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 31 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. We decided to vary this home’s accreditation period. This home is now accredited until 07 March 2019.

Serious risk decision

On 17 September 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that failure by MiCare Ltd to meet five expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to MiCare Avondrust Lodge has placed the safety, health or wellbeing of care recipients of the service at serious risk.

An assessment contact was conducted by the Quality Agency on 6 December 2018 at MiCare Avondrust Lodge to monitor the service’s progress. The Quality Agency found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 11 July 2021.
