Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service 27 February 2023.

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Following a review audit conducted on 22 June 2021 to 25 June 2021, the Commission made a decision on 30 July 2021 not to revoke the accreditation of this service.

The period of accreditation of the service has not been varied and will expire on 27 February 2022.

Following a site audit conducted on 10 to 13 December 2019, the Commission made a decision on 17 January 2020 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 27 February 2022.

Compliance monitoring update

An assessment contact was conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (Commission) on 10 September 2019 at St Basil's Randwick to monitor the service’s progress in meeting the Accreditation Standards. The Commission found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Following an audit we decided that this service met 38 of 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. This service remains accredited until 27 February 2020.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 27 February 2020.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 38 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. We decided to vary this home’s accreditation period. This home is now accredited until 27 February 2019.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 39 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 31 July 2019.

Serious risk decision

On 29 March 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that St Basil's Homes failed to meet one or more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to St Basil's Randwick and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk.

The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

The Quality Agency will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

This is a new home and is accredited for one year until 31 July 2018. We made the decision on 31 July 2017.
