The government is now operating in accordance with the Guidance on Caretaker Conventions, pending the outcome of the 2025 federal election.

The new Aged Care Act will commence from 1 July 2025. It will replace existing legislation, including the current Aged Care Act 1997 and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act 2018.
