Following a site audit conducted on 17 November 2020 to 19 November 2020, the Commission made a decision on 16 December 2020 to re-accredit this service.

The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 16 December 2022.

Exceptional Circumstances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. 

In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until 14 June 2021.

Exceptional Circumstances

The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Compliance monitoring update

An assessment contact was conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (Commission) on 10/12/2019 at Bupa Traralgon to monitor the service’s progress in meeting the Aged Care Quality Standards. The Commission found the service complies with all Aged Care Quality Standards.

Following a site audit the Commission made a decision on 13 September 2019 that this service met five of the eight Aged Care Quality Standards. The service is re-accredited for 9 months until 14 June 2020.

Following an audit we decided that this service met 20 of 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. The audit was conducted on 04 April 2019 to 05 April 2019. The assessment team's report is attached.

A delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a decision on 14 May 2019 to revoke accreditation of this service. The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 14 September 2019.

Serious risk decision

Following a review audit conducted on 4 April 2019 to 5 April 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a decision that Bupa Aged Care Australia Pty Ltd failed to meet 24 expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Bupa Traralgon.

On 14 May 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet six of these expected outcomes has placed the safety, health or wellbeing of consumers of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for one year until 06 February 2020.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 29 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. This home remains accredited until 06 February 2019.

Serious risk decision

On 9 August 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that failure by Bupa Aged Care Australia Pty Ltd to meet eight expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Bupa Traralgon has placed the safety, health or wellbeing of care recipients of the service at serious risk.

A site audit was conducted by the Quality Agency on 11 December 2018 to 12 December 2018 at Bupa Traralgon to assess the performance of the service against the Accreditation Standards. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards.

Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

Following an audit we decided that this home met 44 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards and would be accredited for three years until 06 February 2019.

This is a new home and is accredited for one year until 06 February 2016. We made the decision on 06 February 2015.
